FickleKnitter/Knitted Wit Trunk Show

Fickle Knitter and Knitted Wit Trunk Show Wednesday, February 22, 6-8PM

On February 22, K2TOG will host two local(ish) fiberistas, Michelle Miller and Lorajean Kelly, who will stop by the store to talk and show off their creations and products BEFORE they show at Stitches West - a first time for both of them. They'll each give a presentation on what inspires them and how they create their yarn and patterns. And here's something extra exciting - Lorajean has a new fingeringweight yarn called "Feather Weight" made from wool raised in Wyoming and Michelle is designing a new shawl just for this yarn and she'll debut it at our store BEFORE Stitches! This is a great opportunity for our customers to shop with these young and up-and-coming designers before their Stitches debuts.

Michelle Miller, Fickle Knitter
Michelle Miller is the Orange County-based designer behind Fickle Knitter, where she designs knitting patterns and has a special flair for lace one-skein wonders. Michelle has a graduate degree in physics, math and computer science - which we think helps her work out intricate lace patterns and design garments. But she says, "nothing sparks my creativity like knitting. Knitting, designing, number crunching, pattern writing and publishing fulfills me in a way that cubicle life never did." At Fickle Knitter, she specializes in designs that use one skein of luxury yarn. We met her at TNNA last year and were impressed enough to carry her patterns and her new pattern book, "Leaves."

Lorajean Kelly, Knitted Wit
Lorajean Kelly is the young - and we mean YOUNG - lady behind Knitted Wit, where she hand-dyes luscious yarn using only natural dyes. Kimberly ran across her at the Interweave Show in San Mateo last year and loved her use of color and the sheen of the yarns she created. Of her work, Lorajean says, "I use colorfast, acid dyes to be more specific. I'm inspired by the world around me and have lots of colors named after places I've been to here in Oregon. Bright, candy color is definitely my passion! As for yarn, I like all types so I assume you do too! I try to carry a little something for every body, with an emphasis on luxury yarns. We all need to treat ourselves!"
