Cables for Beginners
Cables are one of the surprises of knitting. They seem so complicated when you look at them, but they are incredibly simple to do!
We will learn how to make left and right leaning cables, follow cable charts and integrate cables into regular knitting.
Skills required:
Know how to knit and purl. Skills Learned:
Make cables using a cable needle and read cable charts. Materials needed:
200 yards of light-colored worsted weight wool (works to 20 sts/4 inches in stockinette st); needles to get the gauge; cable needle; stitch markers; chart reading helpers (post-it notes, etc). Homework:
Work a gauge swatch big enough to verify a gauge of 20 sts/4". Taught by Janie Cavalli
