Sunglasses Case
Sunglasses Case
Materials:
1 ball Crystal Palace Deco Ribbon [70% Acrylic 30% Nylon; 80 yd per 50g skein] (MC)
Optional: 1 ball Crystal Palace Little Flowers [96% nylon 4% metallic fiber; 130 yd per 50g skein] (CC)
1 set U.S. size 9 (5.5 mm) needles
Tapestry needle
Strong thread
Plastic canvas
Notes:
This pattern is for a case that measures 7 inches long by 3.5 inches wide when laid flat. For a more slender case, case on fewer stitches, keeping the number of cast-on stitches an odd number. Piece is knit seed stitch: Cast on an odd number of stitches, K1, P1, K1, P1, and continue to end of row, ending with a K stitch. Repeat each row.
Instructions:
With size 9 needles, cast on 27 sts with MC only.
Row 1: With MC and CC (if using), K1, p1; repeat to end.
Row 2: K all purls and P all knits. (Seed stitch.)
Continue in seed stitch until piece measures 7 inches or desired length to fit your glasses. Bind off knitwise.
Assembly:
Sew in all ends. Fold in half lengthwise and sew up cast-on edge and side seams. You can use a decorative stitch, like a blanket stitch, in a contrasting shade of Deco Ribbon or other novelty yarn. You can also trim the seam with beads. Cut a piece of plastic canvas that is 6.5 inches and 1/2 an inch less wide than than twice the width of the finished case. Fold plastic canvas in half lengthwise. With tapestry needle and strong thread, whipstitch across the bottom and up the sides of the plastic canvas. Tie off. Slip inside finished case with short sewn seam at the bottom. Trim if necessary.
Use and have fun!
