k2tog Ribbed Fingerless Gloves

Materials:
Fingering or sock weight yarn, 250-400 yds, depending on desired length. (Model shown in Classic Elite Summer Sox.)
5 dpns, size US 2.
1 stitch marker,1 stitch holder
For beaded option: 100 size 6 or 8 glass beads, big-eye or wire needle to string them.

Pattern: MAKE TWO!
CO 64 stitches. Divide evenly over 4 dpn (16 stitches per needle). Join for knitting in the round. Place marker. Work k2, p2 rib for 8 inches, or until desired length.

Thumbhole: At beginning of next round, work 6 sts in pattern. Place these sts on holder. Continue in pattern to last 6 sts of round. Place these 6 sts on same holder. Turn work. CO 8 sts using e-wrap or cable co (60 sts). Turn work. Continue in k2, p2 pattern for 4 more inches, or until desired length. Cast off in pattern. Cut yarn.

Make Thumb: Return sts on holder to dpn. With second dpn, pu&k 6 sts. With third dpn, pu&k 6 sts (24 sts on 3 dpns). Join yarn and work in established k2, p2 pattern (k and p where needed on picked up stitches to be consistent with pattern of rest of glove) for 2 inches, or until desired length. BO in pattern.

For beaded option: Before casting on, string 63 beads on yarn. Use long tail cast-on, keeping beads on the ball side. Bring a bead up to the needle and cast on a stitch, securing bead under needle. Once all sts and beads are on the needles, knit as directed above. Before binding off, cut yarn three yards from knitting. String 32 beads onto tail. Bind off with tail, placing beads ONLY along BACK HALF of glove (leave palm side with no beads).
