Ellen has just completed a colorful patchwork knit jacket using 9 crazy colors. Stop in the shop to see it, and come learn the easy technique that allows you to use lots of different color blocks without having to sew them together. Taught by Ellen. Bring several colors of smooth worsted or DK yarns and appropriate double pointed needles (everything is worked flat, but dpns make it easier).

Shadow knitting is garter stitch knitting that makes use of subtle color changes to create beautiful fabric that changes from different angles. Bring two or more colors of smooth, worsted or DK yarns, appropriate straight or circular needles, and stitch markers. Taught by Ellen.

Short rows are useful for shoulders, socks, and making fun stuff like toys. Learn how to wrap and unwrap short rows while making a potholder. Bring smooth, light-colored chunky yarn, appropriate needles, and locking stitch markers or coilless pins. Taught by Ellen.

There are many different kinds of buttonholes shown on the web and in books. We will make several different kinds, including Ellen's all-time favorite, and discuss where and when to use them. We'll also talk about how big to make buttonholes to hold your buttons. Bring smooth yarn of any size and appropriate needles, stitch markers, and buttons. Taught by Ellen.

Duplicate stitching lets you add color to your stockinette knitting without working with two strands of yarn or cover up a mistake without re-knitting your project. This is a handy technique to have in your toolkit. Bring a 6" x 6" swatch of stockinette knitting with smooth yarn, a tapestry needle, and yarn to stitch with. Taught by Ellen.

Beads can add a lot to your knitting -- both fun and fashion. Learn three techniques for adding beads to your knitting. Bring smooth lace or DK yarn, and appropriate needles. Beads and beading needle will be provided. Taught by Ellen.
